Political Campaign Direct MailWhen you need to get the message out for you political campaign and must know that the voter is receiving your message then direct mail is the way to do it. TV and radio hit a large target area but this time is expensive and might not hit your voters unless it is repeated again and again. With redistricting of voting boundaries, a lot of people don't even know which candidate they can vote for. They go to vote for you at their regular voting poll location only to find out you're not on the ballot. With political campaign direct mail you can get an updated registered voter list for your district and know you're hitting HOME with your voting households. When you do a mailing the U.S. Postal Service delivers it to the addressee's household. Now all you have to do is get them to read it. This is where a well designed and worded piece captures the potential voter's attention and establishes the connection between your name, logo and message. A direct mail piece can be costly or cost effective depending on how the mail piece is designed and printed. The U.S. Postal Service has specific guidelines for the size, layout, paper weight and positioning of the addressing information area. This starts with the indicia information indicating the permit holder number, post office location which holds the permit filing. The cost for this is $150.00 per year with 2 mailings of 200 pieces per mailing. Data processing work runs $15.50 per 1,000 with a $75.00 minimum but this deletes duplicate household addressees, (if several registered voters live at the mailing address). Ink Jetting of address on the self mailer, bar coded runs $24.00 per 1,000 with a $35.00 machine set up fee. The mail house has a minimum of $225.00 which allows for about 5,000 postcards to be addressed. Postcards - not less than 3 1/2" high X 5" long, and 0.009" thick
